A Caterpillar C7 six-cylinder diesel and hydrostatic drive give smooth, infinitely variable speed and the fine blade control that both finish grading and trench backfill demand, while the LGP undercarriage on 33-inch tracks with eight bottom rollers keeps ground pressure low across wet or freshly placed material. The 13-foot 4-inch straight six-way blade is unusually wide for this size of dozer, moving serious volume in a single pass and cutting the number of passes needed to spread a load. A rear drawbar adds towing capability for water tanks and compaction equipment. The enclosed cab includes air conditioning, heat, a backup camera, electronic monitoring panel and joystick steering.
